Vinous Neal Martin - 30 Oct 24
The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru has one of the most impressive noses amongst the Cazetiers, despite some reduction, showing vibrant red fruit and mineralité. There is intensity and focus here. The palate is intense and packed with pure red fruit, smooth in texture, with fine acidity. It's lightly spiced towards the finish. This wine has density rather than grace, though the latter should develop with time in bottle. Patience is required, but you can just feel the class. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Gevrey-Chambertin Fine Wine

Gevrey-Chambertin

Gevrey-Chambertin, a prestigious Burgundy appellation in Côte de Nuits, is renowned for producing powerful Pinot Noir wines, often called the "King of Burgundy." These wines are known for bold flavours, complex aromas of dark cherries, blackcurrants, truffles, and spices, with robust structure and excellent ageing potential. The appellation includes nine Grand Cru vineyards, notably Chambertin and Chambertin-Clos de Bèze. Top producers like Domaine Armand Rousseau, Domaine Fourrier, and Domaine Denis Mortet craft wines that reflect the unique terroir and tradition of Gevrey-Chambertin.
